Kin Style-my uniform for preschool drop-off
It’s here! My first style segment aired this week for Kin Community, a fantastic new lifestyle channel on YouTube, and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. I love it for so many reasons-the music, the photography, the great style tips, but mostly for the footage of Elle and Coco (and of course Jack). Their scrapbooks just went digital!
If you like it as much as I do, make sure to subscribe to the channel so you won’t miss a video, there’s more to come!
Boot beauties
It was 75 degrees here today, so this post seems out of place. But tomorrow we head up to Mammoth Lakes for the first (maybe last if this weather keeps up) ski trip of 2012. Seven families, 14 parents, 11 kids. I’m dizzy just thinking about it, but I’m excited to see the snow, watch Elle come down the mountain in her “pizza” wedge, and to debut my new winter boots, of course! These Rockports were the winners for me this year, but I thought I’d share some of the other contenders I found on Zappos in case you live somewhere cold. It is winter after all, even if us Californians are sweating! Happy hunting and for the sake of this weekend, let it snow!!!!!!
Goodbye
My first music memory is from when I was nine years old. I was in the back of my family’s Suburban heading up to Mammoth Lakes, California listening to a Walkman. I held in my hand a cassette tape with this cover on it. I sang out-loud to these songs like a maniac , thanks Mom and Dad, and when I started singing them out-loud tonight, I still got chills but this time I “got so emotional baby.” Ugh. Thank you Whitney, you will be missed.
Cork it
I love wine. So, yes I have accumulated some corks in my time. I always hate to throw them away, there is something so pretty about them, romantic even. Sadly, my aversion to clutter wins over and I eventually send them to the landfill (are corks recyclable?)-terrible. Well that’s all about to change. Thanks to this fabulous how-to from Made by Girl my many corks will now find a permanent home in this adorable wall hanging. As soon as I finish this glass of Pinot Grigio.
Sidenote-I LOVE that bar cart.
Kin comes to town
Today I stepped out from behind the scenes and filmed some new style segments for Kin Community. The lovely folks from Kin, a fantastic new lifestyle channel on YouTube, showed up at my door at 7am (ouch) with bagels and donuts in tow (yum), ready to shoot five separate segments, each with a different wardrobe change. I was so nervous, but Beth and the rest of her team made me feel completely at ease, and I have total faith they will be able to cut around all of my awkwardness to make a couple of great segments featuring my favorite Spring and Summer looks. The one I’m wearing here is from Roberta Freymann, and it’s my go-to Spring event outfit-perfect for baby showers, Mother’s Day brunch, Easter and all other Springtime fetes.
Here’s a peak behind the scenes today, and keep a look out for the segments to air on Kin within the next couple of weeks.
Pencil pretty
My desk is small (and in the kitchen), so I like to keep it clean and minimal, but I’ve added a little “pop” here with the most adorable pencils from Anthropologie. They were given to me by some good friends who know almost anything and everything from that store is a win in my book. The cup is my version of a family heirloom. It’s from my grandfather’s days as a big band drummer in the 40s and 50s with Benny Goodman. It says “Romersa’s Jam Session”, and was used for tips. I love it for so many reasons-the history of course, the color turqoise which is one of my favorites and found all over our home, and because it always reminds me of my grandfather Tommy Romersa (for whom my brother is named after). He passed before I was born, so I never met him. But I’ve kept him with me through his music and keepsakes like this.
Yum
My oldest daughter Elle loves to bake. She loves anything to do with cooking actually, so long as she can help. She already has a favorite chef, Giada DeLaurentiis, and whenever she asks me if she can “watch the first Giada that’s recorded” (meaning the saved episodes on my DVR), I jump at the chance. Something that I’m interested in as well that isn’t animated!?! Yes, please! Today we tackled cupcakes. Mix from the box and frosting from the can, but with a fresh raspberry on top and a little almond extract (secret ingredient) added into the frosting-you’d never know it.
Better hurry before Coco gets it.
