outfit recipe-bright pants

May 14, 2012 |

These pants were a little out of my comfort zone in terms of color but right on in terms of well, comfort. They are so soft and flowy that I feel like I’m still in my pajamas when I wear them, which is great for when it heats up out here in the Val. I usually pair them with a simple top in a neutral color to offset the brightness, but considering how good this pink clutch looks with them, I might have to go full-brighty next time.

outfit recipe-lovely bird hat and jean shorts

April 29, 2012 |

It’s been said when you wear a hat you become the dream that started when the hat was conceived. You discover a person you never suspected was there. Well, when I first tried on a Lovely Bird hat I discovered a laid-back style vixen ready for fun and adventure. I first wore it to a concert at The Hollywood Bowl and loved how mysterious I felt in it. So much so, it has become my go-to accessory for an outdoor show. This warm weekend was spent in my summer-time uniform of jean shorts and a white linen shirt, but in the cool evening I threw on this special hat for some warmth while we enjoyed a little libation, both did their job perfectly.

outfit recipe-pink jeans

April 23, 2012 |

The other day on a hike with the kids, my good friend Kari took this sweet pic of me and Coco. I loved it so much and I thought it was hysterical we were both in pink, so I decided to make it into an outfit recipe. Now I’ve always loved pink, but since having two girls it has taken on new meaning. Pink is no longer just a pretty color to me, it is now the color of joy. The color of my two little girls (their favorite, of course) and the color of happiness. As in, “I’m so happy this XYZ comes in pink, I’ll take two.” I did the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Santa Barbara last year and I was incredibly inspired by pink once again. After seeing 2000 women, and men, walk around in pink for 2 days-I now know, anyone can wear pink! Coco and I are in two of my favorite combos-pink and grey and pink and brown, but almost anyway you dress it, I think pink is pretty.

Outfit recipe-white jeans, black blazer

OK, two things about me. I don’t love having my picture taken (which is why half my face is cropped out here-that and my roots are WAY due for a touch up), and I love dressing up a bit when I’m not with the kids (which is why I’m in heels and costume jewelry just to get mexican food at a school sponsored “Parent’s Night Out”). I love black and white wardrobe combos, and this is one of my favorites. White jeans always make anything you wear with them pop, like this red clutch. And of course my trustee black blazer always makes me feel chic and comfortable. I like the way the snake-skin heels pull it together and give the outfit a little edge. Yes, I’m at parent’s night out, but that doesn’t mean I can’t rock it!

Outfit recipe – dressed up jeans

March 8, 2012 |

I LIVE in jeans-who doesn’t!?! But when I want to dress them up a little bit, this is what I do. A nice silk blouse, fancy flats and a great piece of jewelry always do the trick. Add a pop of color with a nice scarf, add sunglasses and off you go. Great for a day of shopping, parent-teacher, or brunch. Oh, how I miss brunch.

Outfit recipe – Boots and blazer

March 8, 2012 |

Two little facts about me-I have skinny calves, and I am always cold. For those two reasons, one of my favorite in-between-Winter-and-Spring ensembles is boots (which make my legs look more proportioned) and a blazer (which keeps me cozy). It’s one of my go-to uniforms for dinners out, date nights, and concerts (I ALWAYS wear boots to concerts-they keep my feet from getting beer spilled on them, and they make me feel like a rock star).
